Call, text, and directions

One-tap call, text, and map buttons on every job, plus ready-made texts like On my way, Visit reminder, and Job complete.

#On the job card

Each job card on the Jobs list has quick buttons:

• Call opens your phone's dialer with the customer's number.
• Text opens your phone's Messages app with their number filled in.
• Directions opens the job's address in maps.

A button only shows when the job has what it needs. No phone number means no Call or Text. No street or city means no Directions, and the card says Needs address.

The same three buttons are on the first card of the job page.

#Ready-made texts

Open a job. Further down, a Text panel with the customer's first name has buttons with the words already written:

Tap one. Your phone's Messages app opens with the number and the words filled in. Change anything you want, then send it yourself.

• Texts come from your own phone number, the same as any text you send.
• Barton Forge doesn't send texts or keep a copy.
• Visit reminder only shows when the job's Day or Next visit is after today. The night before, open Soon on the Jobs list and tap the text button on each of tomorrow's cards: it opens this reminder already written. From 4 p.m., Today shows a Tomorrow's visits card with how many there are; tap Send reminders to jump to Soon. Nothing goes out on its own.
• Follow-up only shows on a Complete job once its Follow-up day has come. See Follow-up.
• Quote only shows while the job is a Request with a price. When they say yes, tap Approve. See Job statuses.
• Payment received shows once a payment is in. The amount is the last payment. If part is still due, it adds Balance due: $500.
• Payment reminder only shows while the job is on the Unpaid list. The amount is what's still due. It ends with your Pay here: line too, if you set one. On the Unpaid list, the text button on each card opens this reminder directly. See Price, Unpaid, and Paid.
• Price only shows once the job has a saved price. If the job isn't marked paid and you filled in How customers pay you, the Price text ends with Pay here: and what you typed. See How customers pay you.
• Ask for a review ends with Know someone who could use us? Pass along this number. so happy customers send you work. If you saved a review link, it goes in too, so they can tap straight to your Google page.
• On a weekly or monthly job, Price and Quote give the price a visit, like $40 a visit, and Price adds what's owed right now. See Price per visit.
• The panel is hidden when the customer has no phone, or the job is Cancelled.
• The words follow the app's language. Switch to Español and the texts are in Spanish.
• To text one customer in the other language, set Text language on their customer page. See Text language.
