Create a job
Take the call and make it a job before you hang up. Only a name, a phone number, and a job name are needed.
Quick call
Only three things are required. Everything else can wait.
- On Jobs, tap New job.
- Under Customer, type the Customer Name and Phone.
- Under Job, type a Job Name, like "Replace water heater" or "Weekly mow".
- Tap Create job.
The new job shows at the top of your list in the Request status. On a computer, it opens right away.
Everything else you can add
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| The customer's email. If you type one, it has to be a real address. | |
| Description | What they need, in your own words. |
| Street, Unit, City, State, ZIP | Where the job is. Add it now or later. Directions need at least a street or a city. |
| Site notes | Gate codes, dogs, where to park, which side of the house. These show on the Today list. |
| Visit | One time, Weekly, Every 2 weeks, or Monthly. See Weekly and monthly visits. |
| Day or Next visit | The day you plan to go. A one-time job's Day is optional. A weekly or monthly job needs a Next visit. |
You can fill in or change any of these later on the job's page. On a computer, the customer, job, and visit are on the left and the address is on the right.
A customer who called before
If the customer is already in your list:
- Next to Customer, tap Existing customer.
- Recent customers shows the 10 people you worked with or changed most recently. If they're there, tap them. If not, type at least two letters of their name, or part of their email or phone number.
- Tap the right person.
The Customer card shows their name, phone, and email. If you picked the wrong one, tap Change to type a customer instead.
If the address section is still empty, it fills in with the address and site notes from their newest job. Under Address, Places from their past jobs lists each address they've had a job at (up to five). Tap one to use it instead. The one in use is the solid button. You can still type over any of it.
You can also start from the customer: open them in Customers and tap New job. See Edit a customer.
Phone and email you type on the form replace what was on file for that customer. A blank email keeps the one on file.
A second job for the same customer
Each job is its own card with its own number. A customer can have as many jobs as you need. Two weekly loops for one customer (say, mowing and a pool) are two jobs.
If Create job doesn't work
- Phone is required or Phone must be 123-123-1234: check the number.
- This business isn't subscribed: the business's trial or plan has ended. Tap Open Billing. See Billing messages.
- You've used all your free jobs (or customers): your business used the jobs it gets before subscribing. Tap Open Billing to start your trial.
Before you subscribe, a blue box at the top says how many free jobs are left.
