Edit a customer

Call, text, or email a customer, start a new job for them, change their details and text language, see all their jobs, or deactivate them.

Open Customers and tap a name. On a computer, click the pencil at the end of the customer's row instead.

On a phone, tap Customers at the top left to go back to the list.

Call, text, or email

At the top are Call, Text, and Email. They open your phone's own dialer, Messages, or mail app with the customer filled in. A button is left off when that detail is missing.

Start a new job

Tap New job. Create job opens with their name, phone, and email filled in, and the address and site notes from their newest job. Type the job name and tap Create job. To use another address they've had, tap it under Places from their past jobs. See Create a job.

Change their details

  1. Edit Name, Phone, Email, or Notes.
  2. Tap Save.
  • Name is required.
  • Phone has to look like 123-123-1234. The dashes go in as you type.
  • Email is optional, but it has to be a real address if you type one.
  • Notes are for the customer as a whole. Notes about one place go in the job's Site notes.

New phone and email details show on all of that customer's jobs, including the Call and Text buttons.

Text language

Text language picks the language of the ready-made texts to this customer, like On my way and Price.

  • Same as the app is the default. The texts follow the app's language on the phone you send from.
  • Pick English or Español and that customer always gets texts in that language, whatever language your app is in.

The buttons on the job keep your app's language. Only the words in the text change. See Ready-made texts.

Their jobs

Under the details is a list of the customer's jobs, newest first. Tap one to open it. If they have a lot, the list shows the most recent ones.

On a computer, the jobs show on the right of the Customers list instead. See Customers on a computer.

Deactivate a customer

If a customer is gone for good, or was added by mistake, tap Deactivate.

What happens:

  • They leave the Customers list and the Existing Customer search.
  • Their jobs stay, with their history, photos, and prices.
  • Their page says This customer is inactive. and can't be edited.
  • If they call again, a new job with their phone number makes a new customer.

Customers are never deleted, so their old jobs keep making sense.
