How Parts works

Stock comes in from supply-house receipts and barcodes, and goes out when you scan it on the job. Here's how the four Parts tabs fit together.

Parts keeps track of your stock. Tap the Parts tab, and four tabs show at the top:

Tab What it's for
Use Scan a part out when you use it. On hand goes down.
Receipts Snap a supply-house receipt. Review it, and save it into stock. On hand goes up.
History Every receipt you've saved, and every part used from stock.
Inventory Everything you stock and how many are on hand. Add stock by barcode here too.

Stock in

There are two ways to add stock:

  • From a receipt. Snap the receipt from the supply house, check the lines, and save. Every line goes into stock at once. See Snap a receipt.
  • By barcode. Scan or type the barcode on the box in Inventory, set how many, and accept. See Add stock by barcode.

Stock out

When a part goes into a job:

Either way, on hand drops, and you can hang the part on a job.

Stock is a record, not a guess

Every change to on hand comes from something you did: a receipt you saved, a barcode you accepted, or a part you used. Nobody types over the count. That way the number on screen matches what really came in and went out.

Words you'll see

  • On hand: how many your business has right now.
  • Catalog item: a product we matched by its barcode, with its real name and maker.
  • Unverified item: a part from a receipt with no barcode we could match. It still counts. You can attach the box barcode later. See An item's page.
  • Part name: what you call the part, like "15A breaker" instead of the long catalog name.
